daffodils
A new season of hope has arrived in Pagosa Springs, thanks to the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days, which begins today, Thursday, March 11.

By offering daffodils to donors in appreciation of their contributions, this longstanding program celebrates the Society’s mission to fight for everyone touched by the cancer and to help create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

But, it is more than just giving beautiful flowers; it is Pagosa’s chance to fight back against cancer. Volunteers, companies and organizations throughout our community will begin to distribute thousands of daffodils to businesses, homes, offices, schools, hospitals, churches and synagogues in an effort to share hope for a future where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.

“Our community is making a difference in the fight against cancer, one daffodil at a time,” said Daffodil Days’ Kari Slingerland, Community Relationship Manager. “Thanks to the overwhelming support we have received for Daffodil Days, the American Cancer Society is saving lives by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures and by fighting back against the disease. We are sharing hope and making progress against cancer.”

Daffodils are available at the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce Thursday, March 11 from 1pm to 5pm, Friday, March 12 from 8am to 5pm, and Saturday, March 13 from 10am to 2pm.

For a donation of $10, supporters will receive a bouquet of fresh-cut daffodils.

Another way to share hope with those currently undergoing cancer treatment is to send a Gift of Hope — a bouquet of 10 daffodil stems in a vase, delivered anonymously to cancer patients within the community.  The Gift of Hope presents an opportunity to brighten a patient’s day and to foster a relationship among the Society, the patient and his/her caregiver, to help them through the cancer experience with information, allow donors to support as many Gift of Hope deliveries as they choose.

Dollars raised through Daffodil Days enable the American Cancer Society to save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.
